Observations in East New Market, MD Pool Inspection

In addition to the information provided by the homeowner, our inspector made the following observations:

  • The pool was built in 2001.
  • The pool walls and supports, liner and all structural integrity were a total loss, and nothing could have been salvaged.
  • The filter appeared to be okay.
  • The pump motor was missing the clear lid, but there was no power outside to test it.
  • The wood deck was okay.
  • The liner was very brittle.

Analysis of Pool Inspection

In addition to the observations made by our inspector, he also made the following comments about the pool in question:

  • Despite the brittle condition of the liner, it would have been destroyed anyhow from the wall break.
  • The pool was filled to maximum capacity, and there is a considerable amount of rust down the wall at the skimmer area. This is not where the wall is seamed, but this is where the integrity of the wall broke.
  • The skimmer probably had a high concentrations of chlorine sitting in it. At some point it began to leak and then rust and weaken.

Cause of Loss and Repair Estimates for East New Market, MD Swimming Pool Inspection

Our inspector stated that the damage to the pool likely happened the way the homeowner stated, as it was raining that day and quite a lot prior to the inspection. However, the damage was not caused by the storm. Our inspector determined that improper maintenance was behind the damage to the pool, and that the damage could have been avoided entirely with proper care and maintenance. To replace the above-ground pool would cost approximately $6,248.70.
