Swimming Pool Inspection Services was called upon to inspect a hot tub in Kelso, WA to determine if the hot tub had sustained any damage from a house fire.

Did a House Fire Damage a Kelso, WA Hot Tub?

After a house fire damaged a Kelso, Washington home, two inspections on the home’s swimming pool turned up opposite results. Swimming Pool Inspection Services was called in to determine once and for all if the hot tub had been damaged in the fire.

One inspection reported the cause of loss as freezing related to the fire and the other reported no damage, and that the hot tub had reached the end of its life expectancy. The hot tub was outside and not involved in the fire.

Kelso, WA Hot Tub inspection Observations

Throughout the course of the inspection, our inspector made the following observations:

  • The hot tub was empty upon arrival.
  • There were no visible signs of damage from fire.
  • There were no visible broken pipes from freezing, or any visible signs of damage from heat.
  • The vinyl cover appeared dry and brittle from age on one side.
  • The hot tub appeared to be 12-15 years old.

Analysis of Hot Tub

Because our inspector did not have permission to fill the hot tub with water, it was impossible to determine if the plumbing and equipment was in good working condition. However, out inspector noted that the hot tub was at the end of its normal life expectancy.

Cause of Loss in Kelso, WA Pool Inspection

Our inspector concluded that the hot tub did not appear to have sustained any damage during the fire. While he couldn’t fill the hot tub to do a complete system check, he noted that if, when the pool is filled, it is still not working, the entire unit should be replaced, as it has reached the end of its normal life expectancy.
