Swimming Pool Inspection Services was called upon by an insurance company to perform a desk review of a damaged swimming pool in Fredricksburg, PA. In this case, our inspector does not visit the property in question, but rather uses his expertise to determine the cause of loss and cost of repair based on looking at pictures and reading reports on the pool in question.

Initial Reports on Fredricksburg, PA Above-Ground Pool

In this instance, it had been determined that the damage to this Radiant pool had come from melting ice. It is very common for above-ground pools to freeze during extremely cold winters, and in the spring when that water begins to melt, it puts undue stress on the walls of the pool and can often cause the walls to break or collapse under the weight of the ice. Our inspector was asked to verify the findings in the report and also to provide an estimate for the cost of repairs.

Desk Review of Above-Ground Pool

In going over the report, our inspector made note of the following:

• It is probable that the damage to the above ground pool was caused by ice from this past winter; however, without visiting the property our inspector could not absolutely confirm that as fact.
• The above ground pool shown in the pictures provided is not a Radiant pool.
• The pool is a semi-inground aluminum wall pool.
• The pool dimensions were given as 16×32, but this size pool is no longer produced.

Our inspector determined that there were some minor discrepancies in the report, such as the brand of pool. However, he was able to verify the validity of the estimates for repair that came with the report, as well as provide additional estimates.
