- Both pumps of the hot tub were cracked.
- The heater was cracked.
- Several pieces of plumbing located in the equipment area were cracked.
- There was frozen water coming out of the waterfall.
- The hot tub appeared to have been winterized.
Analysis of Rice Lake, WI Inspection
Our inspector deduced that the antifreeze appeared to have been diluted from the frozen water (ice) in the bottom of the hot tub.
The frozen water coming out of the waterfall indicates that the damage is throughout the entire plumbing of the hot tub.
Cause of Loss in Rice Lake Inspection
It was the professional opinion of our inspector that, though the hot tub had been winterized, water was still somehow able to enter the unit. This water and ice diluted the anti-freeze and caused the plumbing, heater and pumps to freeze.
Because of the severe damage to this hot tub unit, the entire unit would need to be replaced, which could cost the homeowners close to $10,000. In this instance, proper winterization could have saved the insured thousand of dollars.
