Swimming Pool Inspection Services is called out to inspect a swimming pool at a golf club in Vonore, TN that was allegedly damaged from fireworks from an unauthorized party.

Initial Consultation at Vonore, TN Swimming Pool

Our inspector visited the property in question and spoke with several individuals in charge of the pool and facilities. A representative showed our inspector pictures of firecracker remnants in a garbage can, which has been found in the pool, as well as a picture of burn marks on the bottom of the pool. The representative explain that an unauthorized party had taken place, and the burn marks in the pool were a result of the party.

The representative also explained that the skimmer had been inoperable since the damage occurred, and that the pump had also been damaged, but had since been repaired.

Inspection and Observations

Our inspector conducted a thorough inspection of the pool and surrounding areas and made the following observations:

  • The overall condition of the pool and facility was generally fair to good, with obvious signs of age and wear present.
  • Surface cracks were viewed on the deck, with no signs of pool interior damage.
  • The pump was switched to the “on” position and was operational at time of the inspection.
  • The plumbing and filtration system was functional.
  • Both skimmers, shallow end and deep end, were on and operational at time the time of the inspection.
  • Other than some general discoloration, there were no marks on the bottom of the pool at the time of the inspection. However, the pool was dirty and had recently been opened for the season. If residue stains from fireworks had been present in the past, no visible signs were noted at the time of inspection.

Inspection Analysis

Our inspector noted that there was no visible damage to the pool. Water loss was nominal, and while some minor deficiencies were noted regarding general cleanliness, proper chemical treatments could eliminate virtually all stains on the swimming pool bottom.

The only notable abnormality was that the decking had settled some; however, this had no bearing on the case at hand, that of damage from a firecracker.

Conclusion of Inspection

After a comprehensive site inspection, it was determines that no deficiencies were present that could have been caused by, or attributed to, fireworks of any type. Minor aesthetic issues, due to age and normal wear-and-tear, were the primary deficiencies noted. No repairs were required.
