Studio City, CA Swimming Pool Damaged by Fallen Tree?

Swimming Pool Inspection Services was called upon recently to help determine the cause of a crack in a swimming pool in Studio City, CA. The pool had already been inspected for leaks; however, before an estimate could be made, our inspector needed to see the damage in person. While the crack was discovered during the removal of a fallen tree, it was determined that the tree did not cause the crack.

Studio City, CA Pool Inspection Observations

According to the leak detection report, water was leaking out behind the tile
in the spa. Our inspector visited the property in question and noted that the kind of crack present usually occurs from a defective expansion joint. In addition, even though this was discovered at the time the fallen tree was removed, the tree and the crack were on opposite sides of the pool, and there was no indication that the tree caused the crack.

Estimate for Repairs for Studio City, CA Pool

It was determined that the faulty expansion deck caused the bond beam to crack and resulted in the leak. Our inspector recommended that to repair the crack, the tile in the area would need to be removed, epoxy injected into the crack, and the tile reset. This was estimated to cost around $1,100.
